Good Trouble is on a mission to create wildly creative, super accessible, incredibly engaging games. Our origin story is anything but the usual.
Founded in early 2023, Good Trouble is a games studio on a mission to create games that put player experience and accessibility at the forefront. Starting from the core-design, every single one of our projects strives to raise the bar for equity, inclusion, diversity, and approachability in games.
Our studio may be new, but our story starts in 2005 when our co-founder Arman Nobari battled Stage III Lymphoma as a teen. Chemotherapy was a rough experience, but video games were the ticket to another planet far away from that intensity, and Arman emerged victorious.
Arman found comfort in the creative possibilities video games provided during his treatment, becoming heavily involved in the modding communities for games like Warcraft 3 at the time. Down the hall, a 50-foot ethernet cable connected into a router on the nurse’s desk, ran above the doorframes, slipped under the door to Arman’s room and connected him to the world. But while his creations reached a global audience, it was sharing his works with other teens in the hospital that proved to be most difficult. When Arman passed his laptop off to the other kids, he often found that their own challenges with vision or motility prevented them from enjoying the same games that brought him so much joy.
That experience planted the seeds for a lifetime of accessibility-focused work for Arman, and nearly two decades later, Team Good Trouble set out on a mission: to create fun, imaginative projects that raise the bar on accessibility in the world of video games.
And yes, Arman is now cancer-free 🎉
